Nokia Siemens Networks Factory will Shut down at Kolkata on July 31

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) – an European telecoms gear maker will shut down the landline products factory in Kolkata on July 31, 2013.

Reason behind the Shut Down:

  • The Kolkata factory has not been profitable.
  • The change in the company strategy towards mobile broadband from land line products
  • NSN’s decision to cut 17,000 jobs worldwide as part of a restructuring plan

End Result:

TOTAL EMPLOYEES – 65
48 Employees Will recive compensation who did not opt for VRS according to “Section 25FFF of the Industrial Disputes Act”.
6 Employees Opted for Transfers
11 Employees Opted for VRS(Voluntary Retirement Services)
